Ambrosia is represented by a golden vial of liquid and can be earned by entering a chamber with the Ambrosia symbol on the door. It works exactly the same as Nectar, but it’s a rarer item to find. But for a game that relies heavily on its narrative aspect as it is, I don't see anything wrong with it. They're not mutually exclusive.

Currently your first gift of ambrosia to a character gets you a "Keepsake". Adding romance in for the sake of romance is not a good choice for this genre, no. It would be interesting if Zag had a romantic tryst with the maid though... very scandalous! Keepsakes are obtained by gifting Ambrosia to various Gods and characters that you encounter while playing Hades. To get Ambrosia, you’ll need to defeat all the enemies behind doors that have a golden vial symbol on them.
